Hozugawa River Boat Ride
This scenic two-hour boat ride down the Hozu River is a must-do experience in Kyoto. Originally used to transport goods, the boats now take visitors on a tranquil journey through lush forested gorges, with occasional mild rapids adding excitement. The ride is particularly breathtaking during cherry blossom season and autumn foliage.
Visit Zen Temple (Hojyoji) Meditation and Tea
Hojo-ji Temple is a historic Zen Buddhist temple located in Kameoka City, Kyoto Prefecture, near the border with Osaka Prefecture. Established in 1641, it belongs to the Myoshinji school of Rinzai Buddhism and has significant connections to Emperor Go-Mizunoo, housing art pieces donated by the imperial family. The temple is renowned for its serene atmosphere, with moss-covered stone steps leading through a canopy of towering trees, creating a secluded and tranquil environment. In autumn, the temple grounds are adorned with vibrant golden foliage, earning it a designation as a scenic spot by Kyoto Prefecture.
National Palace Museum
The National Palace Museum in Taipei is one of the world’s leading museums of Chinese art and history. It houses nearly 700,000 artifacts spanning over 8,000 years, from Neolithic times through the Qing Dynasty. Many of these treasures were originally part of the imperial collection in Beijing’s Forbidden City and were moved to Taiwan during the Chinese Civil War. Highlights include ancient bronze vessels, jade carvings, rare books, paintings, and calligraphy. The museum’s most famous items include the Jadeite Cabbage and the Meat-shaped Stone. Opened in 1965, the museum offers a deep insight into Chinese civilization and cultural heritage.
